The Clippers fell to the Spurs on Saturday in overtime at the Staples Center. The two teams were able to show just how closely they match up. Although the Clippers have been on the NBA’s radar most of the year, the Spurs have been riding under the radar. The win, however, may have just put a blip on the NBA radar screen as the Spurs were able to win away against a very good Clipper team. The Clippers move to 19-10 overall on the season while their home record falls to 11-4.
Blake Griffin, who had a monster game, led the Clippers. He led the team in both points and rebounds as he scored 22 and added 20 rebounds. Chris Paul led the team in assists in the game as well. The team flew out to an early lead and led 26-15 after the first quarter. In the second quarter things quickly reversed as the Clippers were outscored 30-17. The two teams then remained even throughout the rest of the contest until the Spurs outscored the Clippers in the extra period.
The Spurs have now won ten straight games on the year. They move their record to 22-9 on the season while improving their away record to 9-8. Away games have been the one issue the Spurs have had this season as they have lost just one game at home on the year. The team was able to score 25 or more in each quarter minus the slow start in the first period.
