The Dodgers hit their way to a 8-5 victory on July 25th despite almost falling apart in the 9th inning against Colorado. The Dodgers were great from the plate stringing together several hits. Pitching dominated throughout after giving up and early 2nd inning run. It was not until the 9th inning that relief efforts nearly failed, but the Dodgers held on to move to 46-56 this season.
In all, the Dodgers got 12 total hits to score across their 8 runs. One of the hits was a homerun by Andre Ethier, his tenth. The Win for the Dodgers was credited to pitcher Rubby De La Rosa and brought his record to 4-4 this season. He gave up and early run in the 2nd, but then pitched great the rest of the way. Javy Guerra came on pitching gave way in the 9th inning and was able to record his 8th save of the year. The win also improved the Dodgers home record to 26-28 on the year.
For the Rockies an early one to nothing lead in the 2nd was erased the following inning when pitcher Juan Nicasio gave up 3 runs. Nicasio, in the end, was credited with the loss and his record dropped to 4-3. The Rockies got 5 runs off of 5 hits mainly in the 9th when they nearly came back from an 8-1 deficit. Dodger pitcher Guerra was abloe to close the door and get LA the win. The loss for the Rockies moved their record to 48-55 this season.
The two teams will meet again on July 26th at 10:10 PM ET in LA. The Dodgers plan to start Clayton Kershaw who has been a very bright spot in a dismal rotation. Kershaw is 11-4 this season with a low 2.72 ERA. Colorado is set to send Jhoulys Chacin to the rubber. He will bring with him a 8-7 record and 3.60 ERA,
Across the Country in Cleveland, the LA Angels fell to the Indians in the 9th inning after a evenly contested match-up throughout. The Angels were able to take the lead in the top of the 8th inning, but could not keep it and lost it in the bottom of the 9th as Cleveland walked off with the win.
The Angels lost the game 3-2 to the Indians. Their 2 runs came of 6 total hits. One of the hits was a homerun by Bobby Abreu, his 4th of the year. The Angels were scoreless in the game until the homerun that got 2 runs across in the top of the 8th to take a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the 9th, however, pitching faltered and gave up 2 runs to lead the Angels to their 48th loss of the season. The loss was credited to pitcher Jordan Walden whose record fell to 2-3. In all, the Angels are 55-48 on the season.
The Indians also got 6 hits, including the winning hit by rookie Jason Kipnis. The hit was Kipnis’ first career hit and came with 2 outs and the bases loaded. The hit moved the Indians record to 52-48 on the year as they continue to compete for the division title. Their home record also improved to 28-20 this season. Pitcher Tony Sipp moved his record to 5-2 on the year. The two teams will meet again on the 26th as the Angels send Weaver to face the Indians Tomlin at 7:05 PM ET in Cleveland.
