The Clippers squeaked out a close one on Friday against the 76ers who continue to prove that they will be a team to watch out for. In the end it was the Clippers showing that they can beat the best in the league and will. The win moves the Clippers to 16-8 on the season while improving their away record to 6-5 this year.
Chris Paul who scored 24 in the contest led the Clippers. Griffin got his share of points as well and also led the team in rebounds with 11. The Clippers started off slow getting outscored 27-18 in the first quarter. They came back in the second to score 23 compared to just 16 76er points. Both teams then had poor second halves combining for 71 points between the two of them. It was the clippers, however, who outscored the 6ers 37-34. The Clippers win keeps them a few games above the Lakers as they try to continue to hang onto first. The Clippers are proving that they intend to keep that lead and win the division.
The 76ers were 13-4 at home going into the contest. In the end, the loss moved their overall record to 18-9. Their leading scorers both had just 12 points. Elton Brand led the team in rebounds with 10 while Jrue Holiday led in assists with 8. Philadelphia remains in first place in their division as they hold a few games over the Celtics. They must play better if they hope to hold on as Boston has been playing much better basketball.
